More Air Freight Carriers Arriving in Hong Kong
Air freight carriers have been arriving at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) in increasing numbers and with larger volumes of air freight according to sources around the worldwide air freight carrier industry. Reports have about 35 percent more air freight moving through Hong Kong International Airport in the first six months of 2010 and air freight volumes surging to a new record over 2 million tonnes. Air cargo markets connected to Hong Kong International Airport apparently reported double digit growth in June, with total exports during the first six months of 2010 being up 40 percent as compared to the same period in 2009.

Sources in the air freight carrier industry also indicate that total air freight being transported to Europe increased by 44 percent during the same six month period, while the volume of air freight being shipped to the United States increased by about 81 percent. That the volume of air freight that needs to be shipped to destination continues to be strong, despite a few lulls in demand in June, and the last few months of outstanding growth in air freight carrier movements seems to indicate to many that the economy is picking up momentum and we could soon be looking a new records for air freight volumes and demand.

The increase in demand for air freight services and higher volumes of air freight being transported around the world has apparently been noticed by air freight carriers as airlines have started new air freight routes in response and revived routes that had been suspended due to lack of demand for air freight services. A definite sign that confidence is growing in the air freight carrier industry that the current momentum the industry is building will continue on into the summer and beyond.

Ship Freight Inland in Sultanate of Oman
Sources around the ocean freight carrier industry indicate that there's a new inland container depot in Barka, which is located about half way between the Omani capital Muscat and the Port of Sohar, for easier access for ocean freight carriers that need to ship freight into the Port of Sohar and the surrounding regions. This inland container depot is called the Muscat Container Deport, and according to sources this is Oman's first inland container depot and a true gateway into the Port of Sohar and the Sultanate of Oman. Sources also indicate that all import and export formalities will be handled at the Muscat Container Depot, including customers clearance, customs inspections, customs duty payment for import cargo and the completion of re-export documentation.

This new inland container depot is being opened by the Oman International Container Terminal, which is itself a joint venture between Hutchison Port Holdings, the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, Steinweg of the Netherlands and a number of unnamed investors that are out of the Oman, according to sources close to this news bit. This inland container depot is important to keeping the containers moving inland and to the Port of Sohar and it will certainly put more people to work in the region. It should also make it easier for ocean freight carriers to move freight inland in the Sultanate of Oman in the years ahead in the century of the environment and this is possibly one of the main goals of this project.

The Muscat Container Depot has apparently just opened for business, so if you need to ship freight to the Sultanate of Oman, this could be your chance to get the job done. This new inland container depot is supposed to allow you to get your freight inland in a quicker and more efficient fashion and hopefully the reports coming out of the region in the days ahead will indicate that customers are making use of the Muscat Container Depot in greater and greater numbers.
